3-D paper sculpture art exhibit to be showcased at free celebration

LEWISTON — This past summer and fall, Museum L-A hosted a senior arts workshop called “Create in 3-D: Paper Sculpture Art” which was facilitated by local visual artist Karen Brooks.  Artwork created by participants in the workshop will be displayed in a free celebratory exhibit open to the public from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12 in the museum’s gallery. The exhibit will remain on display for one week.

Students from the workshop will be on hand during the celebration to describe their work and tell stories related to their work. Light refreshments will be served at the celebration.

This free workshop was made possible through a grant program called Seeding Vitality Arts in Museums. This initiative is funded by Aroha Philanthropies and was designed to support the development and expansion of successful creative aging programs. The goal is to inspire and enable older adults to learn, make, and share the arts in ways that are novel, complex, and socially engaging.

Museum L-A will host a free senior art program beginning Jan. 11, 2020, led by Cindy Larock, called “Let’s Dance!  Contras, Quadrilles, Jig & Reels,”  a workshop of old-time social dance traditions of Quebec and New England. For more information about Museum L-A, its events and exhibits, visit www.museumla.org or call 207-333-3881.

The event is finished.
