Art and Ale November 2012 Exhibit: Kevin Lyons

Kevin P. Lyons, Nature Photographer
From My Lens To You, I Hope You Enjoy the View

Exhibit November 2- December 7

“My life as a nurse working in the Emergency Department at Central Maine Medical Center can be hectic most of the time. Photography allows me to place myself far, far away from that environment. I have been a life long resident of Lewiston/ Auburn, graduated from Edward Little High School, became a paramedic and earned my AD of Nursing from CMCC School of Nursing, Lewiston, ME.

I have always had a camera and film ready to go, and as the time and technology continued to advanced I found my way, like so many other people, into the world of Digital Photography.

Many of the pictures are tranquil, frozen in time, and most importantly passing their prime. Their beauty and their pain make for great contrast against the sky, and my photo paper and canvas.

This is my stuff, hope you enjoy it and spread the word.”

Gritty’s Art and Ale Gallery can be viewed at 68 Main St. in Auburn.

To purchase works displayed in the Gritty’s Art and Ale Gallery, please call the L/A Arts Office at 782-7228, or stop in during office hours Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm.

The Capitol Steps began as a group of Senate staffers who set out to satirize the very people and places that employed them.

The group was born in December, 1981 when some staffers for Senator Charles Percy were planning entertainment for a Christmas party. Their first idea was to stage a nativity play, but in the whole Congress they couldn’t find three wise men or a virgin. So, they decided to dig into the headlines of the day, and they created song parodies & skits which conveyed a special brand of satirical humor.

In the years that followed, many of the Steps ignored the conventional wisdom (“Don’t quit your day job!”), and although not all of the current members of the Steps are former Capitol Hill staffers, taken together the performers have worked in a total of eighteen Congressional offices and represent 62 years of collective House and Senate staff experience.

The cast for this amazing show consists of: Kevin Corbett, Jon Bell, Brian Ash, Nancy Dolliver, Bari Biern and features pianist Marc Irwin.
