She Doesn’t Like Guthrie’s is currently hosting work from Creative Trails. Creative Trails is an innovative community support program for adults with intellectual disabilities located in several locations throughout Maine. They offer participants choices, sophisticated opportunities and integration to help support and guide them to becoming more interdependent. By realizing theory potential through experience of mind, body and spirit, each indivdual will live a more meaningful and fulfilling life. CREATE, the art program, is designed to support artists in building their skills in many different mediums. With artists visits and studio time the individuals touch upon community awareness, fine motor skills, self awareness, social skills and sensory awareness.
Guthries will also host a live musical performance by The Juke Joint Devils, at 8:00 pm the night of the Art Walk, December 27th. The Juke Joint Devils take you back to a time when small house bands played from the soul, on real instruments, could swing like crazy and anything could happen on stage. These guys play a mix of West Coast and Chicago Blues, with a bit of spice from New Orleans and elsewhere. The band features International Blues Challenge finalists Tommy O’Connell on harp and vocals and Gerry Byrne on standup base, Johnny Moran on drums and with Stefan Iris on guitar. The performance begins at 8:00 pm, there is no cover, and for more information call 376-3344
