LA Arts seeks a community organizer to build its capacity to serve a key constituency —  Lewiston-Auburn’s African immigrant community — as the organization pursues its mission to engage and inspire a vibrant community through arts and culture.

Goals include increasing representation of this community in LA Arts programming, the LA Arts Board of Directors and staff, and increasing arts engagements among community members. Candidates should have excellent listening skills, be able to identify community members’ needs and interests, and be able to establish and build working relationships with key stakeholders. Ability to communicate in the primary languages of L-A’s African immigrant community preferred. The job entails generating leads to identify and support key arts constituents within the community; organizing, planning, and running meetings to vet ideas and develop relationships with key constituents; and working with the LA Arts communications and office manager and the LA Arts Board to develop and implement arts solutions to expressed community needs. This is a part-time position of 10 hours per week. Interested candidates should send a resume, cover letter, and 2 references to alison.gibbs@laarts.org.
