History & Development of Cultural Plan LA

2015

In 2015, LA Arts was awarded the Maine Arts Commission (MAC) Creative Communities Economic Development Phase 1 Grant to develop a cultural plan to catalyze LA’s potential as a creative metropolis. Cultural Plan LA was created through the efforts of many citizens and organizations of Lewiston and Auburn, working under the leadership of LA Arts with funding from the MAC grant and the two municipalities.

2016

Cultural Plan LA was completed in September 2016 and adopted by the City Councils of both Lewiston and Auburn. Download Cultural Plan LA.

2019

In January 2019, the Maine Arts Commission awarded a MAC Creative Communities = Economic Development Phase 2 Grant of $75,000 for implementation of Cultural Plan LA. Proceeds will be used to improve the image of Lewiston and Auburn and to spur economic development through public art installations in each city. Learn more.
