Tickets to Bates Dance Festival’s performance series now on sale!
A note from the Bates Dance Festival director, Shoshona Currier:
Each artist in this series of performances offers audiences unique, rich environments while exploring big ideas like grief, love, and lineage. In Schaeffer Theatre, we will present dance shows by choreographers Kyle Abraham, Gerald Casel, LaTasha Barnes, and Vanessa Anspaugh. We welcome back annual favorites The Musicians’ Concert and Moving in the Moment –– this year both are in our outdoor tent! Downtown there are two different immersive sound performances by Portland-based artist James Allister Sprang.
We are keeping ticket prices low ($5–$25) and are continuing our post-show gatherings in the Beer Garden each Friday night in July. Mingle with fellow audience members, meet the festival staff and artists, enjoy refreshments and entertainment. Tickets go on sale June 1. This summer is also full of free events like the social dance parties Concerts on the Quad, works in progress, and artist talks. Be sure not to miss a site-specific, interactive installation on campus by Blue Hill artist Heather Lyon.
There are so many ways to engage with BDF! We’re thrilled to be together again for our 41st summer season. Descriptions of the performances, location information and much more may be found here.
