The Corner “Losing My Religion” Digital Edition

In this time of isolation and uncertainty, storytelling is more important than ever. After surveying our audience to find out what they would like to see from The Corner, we’ve come up with a digital alternative to our usual event.

How it works:
This will be a live event on the Zoom app (which does require installation, but is free and can easily be installed on a wide range of platforms).

While the event is free, registration is required. Please email us to register: cometothecorner@gmail.com.

As event hosts, Steve and I will share our screen and audio with attendees. We will play pre-recorded videos from our storytellers so that everyone can watch them together. Afterwards, folks can share what resonated with them, what they loved, what they’re thinking about.

This is not a typical Corner event. We appreciate your understanding as we try out something new! It may be a little clunky, but we hope the element of storytelling and community gathering will be strong.

Share your story!
We have some pre-picked tellers who have committed to sharing videos, but we need more! If you have a story for the theme “Losing My Religion,” send us a video! Click here for the theme description: https://www.cometothecorner.com/events

About the videos:
Recordings should follow the usual Corner guidelines – 5 minute (or shorter) true stories, told from the heart (not reading from notes). We don’t expect these to be polished masterpieces. Prop up a smartphone, hit record, and share your story! Good audio is more important than good visuals, but please do consider lighting–we’d like to see your expressions. If we can help give you advice or tech support, please let us know! Once you have a video, email it to cometothecorner@gmail.com and we’ll take it from there.

Note–depending on number of submissions, we may not have time to play all submissions. This is similar to the “fishbowl” drawing at the regular events–you’ll enter your story, and we’ll play as many as we can!

Due date for the videos:
We must receive all submissions no later than midnight on Sunday, April 19th.

The event is finished.
