Franco and Irish Genealogy with B.J. Jamieson
The Franco-American Collection at the University of Southern Maine invites you to join us on Zoom on Monday, November 14th, 2022, at 12 pm- 1pm, for lunch talk about the intersection of Franco-American and Irish genealogy with B.J. Jamieson.
We are excited to welcome B.J. Jamieson, the genealogy reference specialist at the Maine State Library. This position allows B.J. to indulge her love of both books and genealogy to an extent that she didn’t think was possible before she accepted the position. She has a postgraduate certificate in genealogy from the University of Strathclyde (Glasgow, Scotland) as well as a master’s degree in library science.
While the perception is that French and English speaking Canadians lived in completely separate communities, there was often interaction between Francophones and immigrants of Scottish and Irish descent. This was especially true in New Brunswick and the Eastern Townships of Quebec, where both French and English names occur in many records. Following the presentation, there will be a Q & A session with the audience.
There is no fee for our programs, which are made possible by the Québec Delegation in Boston and Androscoggin Home Health.
This event will be Zoom only! Register here for the Zoom link: https://maine.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZAuf-CvqD4jGNcWSo2P4nXkmdlNP0e0cfgZ.
