Chris Robley Solopalooza
Wish me luck! On Thursday April 16th, I’m playing a marathon fundraiser concert online.
I’m asking for you to tune in for a few minutes, leave a tip via PayPal or Venmo, and together let’s raise money to buy face shields for nurses and doctors who desperately need protective gear during this pandemic. If you’ve followed news about the crazy black market of PPE, don’t worry; I have a US-based manufacturer already lined up.
Lemme back up for a sec …
My family has been “social distancing” for about 4 weeks and we’re okay, all things considered. My wife has closed her community acupuncture clinic — for another month, two, three (we’ll see) — which means her life has changed much more drastically than mine, especially when you introduce full-time parenting, part-time home-schooling, and moments of apocalypse prepping to the equation. I’m able to telecommute like always, so while it’s been difficult to find new daily rhythms, economically we’re able to weather this craziness at least temporarily AND stay home.
Lots of people don’t have that luxury.
I’ve got a brother-in-law for instance who works in the ER. We haven’t really seen him for obvious reasons, except on Zoom or outside and at a distance. He’s in the same situation as many healthcare workers, staring down supply shortages and rationing PPE. I would like to help him make sure hospitals are properly stocked with protective gear and necessary medical equipment.
So — an 8-hour livestream for frontline workers!!!
I have no particular skills in supply-chain management. But what I CAN do is play an absolutely ridiculous amount of songs in a marathon live-stream fundraiser. If I remember a workday’s worth of cover songs and originals, shredding my voice and fingers, will you help me raise money to buy face-shields for nurses and doctors? They’re not N95 masks, but they provide protection, are manufactured in the USA, and can be ordered and shipped with urgency.
Don’t worry. I’m not asking you to watch for eight hours.
Here’s what I need:
1. Listen to a song or two
2. Make a donation via PayPal or Venmo
3. Leave a comment saying hello and tagging someone else
4. Share the video with your friends
5. And come back later in the day to see how I’m holding up
