TL;DR: Art show at Quiet City Books in remembrance of Scott Hutchison starts at 5 pm. Music tribute at L/A Arts Downstage starts at 9. All proceeds benefit Common Ties Mental Health Services and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

Courtney Schlachter, owner of Quiet City Books and a founding member of The Hive Artisan Co op, will present a series of mixed media artwork inspired by the music of Frightened Rabbit.

With Scott Hutchison’s encouragement, Courtney began creating Frabbits-inspired artwork in 2010. They were to plan a collaboration this year to combine their unique artistic styles, but upon Scott’s death in May, Courtney has shifted the focus of her art exhibit. Not only will she highlight the brilliant strength of Scott’s honesty, vulnerability, and humanity in his songs, she’ll strive to connect people along the common threads of heartbreak and hope, and bring awareness to the necessity of access to mental health and suicide prevention services.

After the art opening, take a quick stroll over to Downstage, accessed by the Canal Street alley, at the back of L/A Arts; local musicians will come together to play a selection of Frightened Rabbit songs to close out the evening. Lined up:
Michael Krapovicky
Michael LeComte and Megan Durgin
Chris Robley with Courtney Schlachter
$10 donation for entry to the music portion at Downstage. Doors at 8:30, music starts at 9.

Profits from artwork sold and donations made at Downstage will be donated in Scott Hutchison’s name to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and Common Ties Mental Health Services.
