Art Walk is the summer’s premier monthly event, showcasing local talent, hosting free concerts and encouraging you to get out and join us for a walk! Volunteering is a great opportunity to give back, get involved and network with new friends!

Community Clean Up
Wednesday May 15, Saturday May 18, Wednesday May 22 and Saturday May 25
10-3PM each day (flexible if volunteers are unable to meet during designated times)
Art Walk has secured a new “venue” for the monthly Art Walks. The vacant lot on Libson Street, between Pine and Ash Streets, will be utilized in fun and innovative ways each Art Walk. Planning is still underway, but the brainstorming process includes art installations, performance and film.
We need many hands to help fix up the lot and make it a welcoming space and less of a “wasteland”. Clean up of the lot includes raking, moving/stacking brick and debris, and some light gardening. Volunteers are asked, if able, to bring rakes, trowels, shovels and gloves.

Promote Art Walk
Art Walk needs assistance from community members to hang up posters associated with Art Walk events, including call to artists, call to volunteers and event promotions. Area’s that require posters are Portland, Brunswick and Lewiston.

Exhibit Creation
Art Walk is looking for cheerful and detail oriented volunteers to assist our team in hanging artists work at various venues. Volunteers will be responsible for helping to transport art work and easels from L/A Arts to various locations and are asked to handle all work with extreme care. They must be comfortable using a hammer, level and measuring tape. Prior experience is a huge plus—the ideal candidate will be comfortable self directed.

Art Walk Event Days: May 31, June 28, July 26, August 30 & September 27
Pre Event Set Up 2PM-5PM
Volunteers will be asked to assist in setting up sandwich board signs outside along the Art Walk path—many directly outside of venues. Volunteers will also be responsible for distributing maps/promotional materials to individual venue locations.
Reception Set Up: Assist Art Walk staff in set up of gallery receptions as needed.
Performance Set Up 3:30-6:45, Performance Break Down 8PM
Additionally some Art Walk sites will host free concerts, installations and events which will require volunteer assistance in setting up stages, chairs, and other duties as necessary. Performances are typically scheduled for 6PM so set up will begin around 3:30 (depending on the number of volunteers available). During performance times, volunteers are able to take a break to enjoy Art Walk and are asked to please return, if available, to help break down.
Gallery Host4:45-9:30PM
We are looking for friendly and personable volunteers to represent Art Walk Lewiston Auburn in our art venues during the event greeting patrons, supervising the venue, answering questions and acting as a contact for anyone interested in purchasing art at the event. This is a great team activity for anyone interested in volunteering with a friend, or a way to meet folks around town. Art Walk additionally would love assistance in breaking down at the end of the night, namely collecting sandwich boards from various Art Walk venues.

Exhibit Removal:
Art Walk is looking for volunteers with attention to detail who can follow instructions to assist our Visual Arts Coordinators in breaking down venues after the conclusion of Art Walk exhibits and transporting work to a central artist pick up location. This is fast paced work for art appreciators who can treat the art work of others with all the respect they would treat their own!
