Lewiston Middle School Spanish language teacher Jennifer Goodine’s classes work with our teaching artist Natasha Mayers to produce moving and beautiful found-object shrines expressing their own experiences of loss. The shrines are exhibited at the LA Arts office gallery on Lisbon Street for a month. Portland Press Herald arts reporter Bob Keyes was so impressed by the shrines he said he would like to do an advance story on the 2017 Dia Project. The Dia Project is an outstanding example of highly expressive and creative inter-disciplinary art work, produced by students who don’t necessarily identify as ‘artists’.
