About The Band
Listen to Down the Road Apiece (mp3)
Down The
Road Apiece is a musical duo featuring Lindsey Montana and Kathy Card
specializing in Americana, bluegrass and old-time folk music. A resident of
Portland, Kathy spent some of her early life performing with various
choruses, ensembles and bands singing pop and jazz standards, but put her
musical aspirations on the back burner for a period of time to raise her
family. Early last year, as she was exploring various options for a return
to live performance, she ran into Lindsey at a bluegrass event.
Lindsey, a
Blue Hill native currently living in Otisfield, is a veteran of the Maine
music scene and has performed more than a thousand gigs in various
capacities, from solo to freelance keyboard and guitar engagements with area
bands. Although his schedule includes many projects at any given time, he
can often be heard playing with his rock band, The Smoldering Bones, solo,
or as the host-in-residence at the Tuesday Night Jam at Gritty McDuff's in
Auburn, where he plays improvised music with various invited guests.
Struck by
Lindsey's musicality and outgoing nature, Kathy arranged for them to perform
together at a small concert in Portland. It was immediately clear to both
that their voices and taste in music meshed wonderfully, and they
immediately booked numerous gigs at various venues, ranging from
campgrounds, nursing homes and private parties, to nightclubs and bluegrass
events.
Down The
Road Apiece is excited to bring their brand of guitar-based vocal music to
L/A Arts' Downstage. The upcoming show will feature a wide variety of
bluegrass and old-time favorites, as well as newer selections form Gillian
Welch and John Prine. The show will include some of Lindsey's original
compositions, which have been received favorably by audiences throughout New
England.
