Professional Development Workshops
L/A Arts offers dynamic, practical and inclusive professional development in arts in education practices for teaching artists and school teachers and administrators. The focus of these workshops are the current best practices and philosophies of arts education integrated into standards based learning, and relevant to school classrooms and communities. The workshops are led by professional facilitators who are experts both in arts education practices and their individual artistic fields.

This spring, L/A Arts and the Lewiston Public Schools are collaborating on five Arts in Education professional development workshops, offered to local public school teachers. The objective of these workshops will be to give an enriching arts enrichment experience for teachers, which exemplifies best arts in education pedagogy; in transforming teaching practice toward enhancing the experiential learning of their students. This year’s workshops, led by expert teaching artists who are professionals in their respective artistic field are: Reader’s Theater, Music (African Drumming), Visual Arts (Bookmaking), Weaving and Storytelling.
